It is not merely the distinguished lineage of noble ancestors – nor the many honors that Your Lordship rightfully holds – that leads me to seek your patronage for my work. Rather, it is your heroic spirit, adorned with the finest attributes of genetics and upbringing, and your genuine passion for nurturing all forms of science and art. Your exceptional ability to discern true character encourages and compels me to request your support in safeguarding the reputation of myself, who is deeply indebted to your many favors.

I am aware that the prevailing, self-congratulatory wisdom of our era often manifests in petty criticisms and unfair attacks on all new ideas. Many seem eager to build their own reputations in learning and judgment through this easy and contemptible approach, pursued with as much arrogance as ignorance. Luckily, what they wrongly and unjustly tarnish with scorn often survives beyond their own fleeting existence and thrives long after they are forgotten.

I understand that Your Lordship’s character stands in stark contrast to those who seek to undermine others. Instead, you strive to establish your own reputation for learning and judgment on a solid foundation, rather than tearing down the admirable accomplishments of others, as Herostratus did. I sincerely wish that Your Honor could inspire this positive approach in others, transforming detractors into advocates. I believe that if they were subject to the same scrutiny they impose on others, it would temper their harshness in judgment.

I find it unnecessary to elaborate on the nature of my work, the effort I have put into translating it, or the potential benefits it may bring. I know that you are well-versed in such matters and have no doubt that you will graciously accept the goodwill of someone who considers it a privilege to be in your service.
